See how under water scenes are made by the help of VFX in movie “THE MEG”

The Meg is an upcoming film and directed by Jon Turteltaub. The film is all set to hit the theatres this August. The trailer has made the fans very excited about the film’s story and actions. The film is based on a book written by Steve Alten, Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror. Sounds exciting! Isn’t it?

We will leave the book discussion for some other time and presently focus on VFX for films. The film has intense level of visual effects which has made the fans go all bananas. It has currently secured a 4.9/5 IMDB rating. That is quite impressive considering only the trailer is out. Until the film is released in August let us take a look at some of the most awesome features that this film will show us.

The VFX supervisor for production of this film is Adrian de Wet. He and his team jotted down a lot of hard work to bring this film in the current form of what it is. It took a lot of hard play and dedication to make this film a reality.

If you are someone who is interested to learn VFX then this film can be a good guideline and example to observe for all the students. The film is based on an aquatic and water based story line. Though no superhero film but actions are jam packed. A serious hurdle that visual effects editors face with editing scenes under water is the chroma key is quite difficult. Take an example of the classic film Soul Surfer where the arm of Bethany Hamilton had to be edited in every single shot. VFX supervisors said that editing the arm in every single shot was not the issue but doing that in the aquatic surfaces was a hard play.

As for the movie The Meg these are the companies which were involved in the VFX of this film:
