How To Design A Character In VFX?

One of the most important aspects of character-related FX systems, like a stream of drool hanging from a dog’s mouth, is control. More often than not, animators will want to be able to control the effect without needing a degree in fluid simulations. This set-up combines nCloth and nParticles for an animator-friendly system.

That’s right Visual Effects, Animation, 3D Modeling, Compositing and Lighting all have areas that focus on the technical side of things, and often a good grasp of programming basics, mathematics or even theatrical acting can be just as useful. Becoming an Animator, your job requires you to move the character around, much likes a puppet, and your focus is bringing the character to life rather than creating it.  A Visual Effects artist creates all the explosions, splashes and crashed within a film.

A 3D Modeler gives the character its skin and texture making it look more realistic.  With Compositing and Lighting you build finished film shot sequences, render shadows on objects and add the finishing touches to film and game. So you’re asking yourself, what do I need to know in order to get started down this career path?  Patience, persistence and attention to detail are all skills you need to practice while in this type of career, as well as a willingness to learn.

You should familiarize yourself with what is VFX course and probably start enquiring about the visual effects courses that are available at your reach. For The Jungle Book, which mixed live action with CGI (Computer-generated imagery), it took more than 800 artists from MPC’s London, Los Angeles and Bangalore offices more than two years to build Rudyard Kipling’s world.

Before a single blade of grass or tuft of fur was drawn and digitized, teams of researchers in India covered 18,000km by road and took over 400,000 photographers of the landscape for artists work from. Everything mattered – from how rivers erode specific soil types, to the exact green of a particular leaf.

Adding to that, NO you don’t need to be a great 2D artist to head down this career path (although it won’t hurt!) There is such a wide spectrum of jobs in this industry from technical to programming, that there is a fit for every skill set.
